Announcement
The Dragon Boat Association (CDBA) invites you to come join us at the 2023 Northern California International Dragon Boat Championships (“NCIDBF"), to be held September 23 & 24, 2023 at Leo J. Ryan Park in Foster City!
This continues our efforts to regrow dragon boat racing to the Area since the pandemic this year with an active schedule of youth and adult team training and the completion of three very successful races: the CDBA Youth Dragon Boat Championships in April 2023, our CDBA Regional Dragon Boat Regatta in May 2023, and our CDBA Corporate Challenge and Sprint Race in August 2023 which brought the return of our corporate race division. In addition, the CDBA has also run several exciting and fun team building dragon boat events for individual corporations and organizations. To find out more about this program, contact Jack Zee at (jack.zee [at] cdba.org).
It truly has been rewarding to see the tremendous amount of excitement and enthusiasm from the many participants being back on the water.
The upcoming 2023 NCIDBF will feature competitive and recreational teams on Saturday, September 23 which will see the return of visiting dragon boat teams from outside the Bay Area competing with our local teams; and the high school youth dragon boat teams racing on Sunday, September 24. We also plan to add complimentary land activities to the race with the addition of food trucks and informational sponsor tents at the scenic Leo J. Ryan Park in Foster City. Race schedules will be posted a week before the race.
We also invite you to support the California Dragon Boat Association as we rebuild our volunteer and financial resources following the pandemic years. We are a nonprofit organization and operate the largest youth dragon boat program in the United States, serving a wide range of high school students with a program that offers fitness, outdoor recreation, teambuilding, and socialization. Given the pandemic, these opportunities are now more important than ever for young people. Our high school dragon boat program is subsidized by the CDBA, allowing for youth of all backgrounds, income levels, and athletic abilities to participate. We could not do this without the generous support of our donors and sponsors. To make a donation or sponsor our organization, please contact Jack Zee at (jack.zee [at] cdba.org).
Finally, we would like to thank our long-time partner and Premier NCIDBF Sponsor, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, for their long standing partnership and support in helping us regrow dragon boating in the Bay Area!
