About

Founded in 1996, the California Dragon Boat Association (CDBA), is a non-profit volunteer-based organization that promotes the growth and development of the sport of dragon boating in the San Francisco Bay Area. The CDBA runs the largest youth dragon boat program in the nation and organizes several dragon boat races each year including the Northern California International Dragon Boat Festival (NCIDBF) which is one of the largest and most competitive dragon boat festivals in the US.

Our mission is to build strong communities and promote fitness, teamwork, and leadership among youth, adults, and seniors of all backgrounds through high-quality youth and adult dragon boat programs and events.

After two years and a half years of absence from the water due to COVID, the CDBA is exceptionally proud to bring dragon boat racing back to the Bay Area in 2022.  We are grateful to our members, member teams, volunteers, and our sponsors for their support, without whom, this would not have been possible.

Our Mission

Here at California Dragon Boat Association, we’re committed to investing our expertise and resources in order to further achieve our cause. Since 2000, we’ve been supporting our community members in a variety of ways and measuring our success not by monetary size, but by more qualitative measurements such as the scale and effectiveness of our efforts. Just imagine what we can achieve together!

Youth Program

CDBA is proud of its Youth Dragon Boat Program which has grown by leaps and bounds since its inception in 2003.
